Ekahau Site Survey is an enterprise-level Wi-Fi planning, site survey and WLAN troubleshooting solution developed by Ekahau. It can intuitively and visually collect, analyze and display all the key parameters related to a whole of WiFi coverage on both map and plan, including: RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication), interference, SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio), access points with best strength, total number of access points, channel signals, data transfer rate, and so on. Its design intent is to integrate simple wireless network plan, accurate measurement information of site survey and straightforward & visualized data/reports in one place, thereby saving the time spent on various stages of wireless network planning & developing.
Before you deploy a new WatchGuard AP, you can perform a wireless site survey to analyze your current environment and existing wireless signals. The wireless site survey helps you to identify your specific requirements for your wireless network, and any external factors that could affect your deployment.

Typically, you begin a site survey with a physical walk-through of your environment. It is helpful to have a floor plan of your facilities that shows your existing networking environment and a list of requirements for your planned wireless networks. A visual inspection helps you to understand the areas of coverage required, the physical limitations and barriers due to building construction, and potential sources of wireless interference.
Many wireless site survey tools are available that enable you to map your environment and generate wireless heat maps, which provide a visual representation of the wireless signals in your environment. The heat map shows the strength and range of wireless access points, how their signals react to your physical environment, and identifies any existing wireless interference.
To determine what wireless signals and interference already exist in your environment, you can generate a heat map to help you plan your deployment scenario. You can use one of the many available third-party wireless site survey tools such as Ekahau HeatMapper. After you install your APs, you can make another heat map of your environment to see if your current placement provides adequate coverage and signal strength for your wireless network.
NetSpot is a Wi-Fi mapper app for Mac and Windows (also available for Android and iOS). It allows you to take a complete site survey of your network and view the following WiFi heatmap visualizations:
With its powerful design tools AirMagnet Survey PRO enables network professionals to predictively model the required changes, ensuring that problems found during the AirMapper site survey are fixed correctly, resulting in improved Wi-Fi network performance and connectivity.
With the AirMapper app on the AirCheck G3 or EtherScope nXG users can quickly and easily gather location-based Wi-Fi measurements and create visual heat maps of key performance metrics in AirMagnet Survey PRO. Simple to use, the AirMapper app is ideal for quick site surveys of new deployments, change validation, and performance verification.
With the combination of GPS support and integration with Google Earth, AirMagnet Survey PRO provides a clear path to fast, fully automated outdoor wireless site surveys. Users can leverage their NMEA-compliant GPS device to automatically collect outdoor wireless data. Users can import street maps of any city in the world, allowing results to be analyzed in the AirMagnet Survey PRO user interface, or exported into Google Earth for a zoomed-in view to any street within the city. 2ff7e9595c
